(ARE-ON) News
11-3-09: ARE-ON Lighting Ceremony at
University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.
Due to the hard work and dedication of the
ARE-ON and University of Arkansas at Fort Smith (UAFS) teams, the Lighting
Ceremony at UAFS was a phenomenal success. The presentations were
excellent, and the HD video links with Bunkyo University from Tokyo, Japan
and University of Arkansas-Fayetteville were perfect examples of the
beginning of a new era in higher education in Arkansas. Technically this
event demonstrated the fact that HD video is an application, not a
stand-alone network that will have global impact on our students in
Arkansas.
Although the applications demonstrated may be different on different
campuses, the event at UAFS has set the standard for similar activities as
we add campuses to the ARE-ON community. The enthusiasm and professionalism
made it clear that ARE-ON has arrived at UAFS, and is moving forward
rapidly.
I am proud to have the opportunity to work with this team and future teams
as we strive together to change the national perception of Arkansas from
“poor me to FOLLOW ME!”

ARE-ON Executive Director
